Around 8am we all began filing in the living room. Dawson made his rounds satisfying his need for his morning hugs. We devoured pancakes and bacon. And made our way out to water the garden.
Before I could finish, it was time for a morning swim. According to Dawson, they had swam every day since they'd gotten here. "What else is summer about?" I asked.
Around lunchtime we finally put our newly made stamps to work. We met Crystal, Landon and Anslee at Virginia Hylton Park in Lexington to find our first letterboxes. Before they got there we played on the playground. At least, that is, until Madison informed everyone about the creek that runs through the park. We spent our time there until Crystal and the kids arrived and joined us. Then it was time to look for clues.
As boys are, they had to run around like a bunch of bangees thinking they could find the box before the rest of us. Lucky me, I held the clues. Eventually the boys did find the first box.
We searced for one more box, but it was missing. Boy, what a disappointment. But, I had a card up my sleeve. We had one more clue for another box. We drove to the next destination where Landon walked in and said, "It looks like it might rain. Can I borrow your umbrella?" The magic words to the shopkeeper at Four Corners Art and Frame shop delivered us the next stamp.
The day wasn't over yet as we headed to the theater to watch Night of the Museum. Olivia and Dawson said they had already seen it but decided it would be ok if we went because it was a "really good movie", and "my mom also liked it". That was good enough for us.
I thought it really cute that the girls immediately noticed the clearance rack of another shop as we left the theater.
We finally had enough for one day and headed home. More pool time! For everyone but Olivia that is. Unfortunately, the bees seemed to search her out, and although she hadn't gotten stung they were a little too close for comfort. She had even picked out her bathing suit previously that morning on the basis of mute colors "the bees wouldn't think were flowers".
The day wrapped up with more reading! They are so animated when they finally figure out Nancy Drew's secrets!
